Term 4 Swimming - Day one

Today it was our first day going to Canterbury Swim School. We first had to listen to the instructor so we know what to do. We were practicing using the kick board and without a kick board. We had to do some arm circle and then we had to choose what arm was our bubble arm and breathing arm. I chose my right hand to be the bubble arm and my left for breathing. I found it difficult to kick without a kick board. We did arm strokes and did the wiggly worm. My first goal is to get better kicking without a kick board. The people in my group were Nijesh, Mele, Casper, Marleigh  and Me.  We will be continuing it tomorrow.

My favorite one is blowing bubbles and then breathing.

Yavnit The Ancient Temple Narrative Writing

Today we have been doing narrative writing about a story. We had to choose what story we want and it does not have to be a story in a book. We all made up a story and then started to write. Before we started to write, we first had to put parts of our story into template. We ha had a beginning, middle, Problem, Resolution and a ending into our story. We had to use descriptive words in our story so it is not a boring story that no one wants to read.  Narrative writing is about entertaining the reader and show an exciting scene of our story.  My story is a long writing with 3 pages. We had to choose to write our story on our template or on a new google docs.  Here is my story.

Yavnit Reconnecting

We have been learning about reconnecting with our family members or neighbours. It is important to think about mental health and to take time to korero (talk). It is mental health awareness week and that's why we are learning about it.  I want to meet my grandparents that are in Fiji and see what they have been doing in lock down for a long time. Stay alive in the water!

In reading W.A.L.T use prior knowledge and knowledge gained from texts to learn about water safety.

The Gryffindor group and Slytherin group had been doing work about water safety. I am in the Gryffindor group. We had to read the text first then make the poster. I started writing short sentences and then added images. I have learnt that I need to have my parents permission to go in the water. Staying safe in the water means like what you will need and what you will need to do from staying out from danger in the water! You have to go with a friend or with a professional surfer when you are surfing. Wear sunblock so you don't get sunburnt. Here is my poster.
